Fundraising
The International Vasa Previa Foundation believes that
infant death due to vasa previa is an avoidable tragedy. The IVPF
participates in research regarding vasa previa with a goal towards increasing
the awareness of vasa previa risk factors, testing, and management. We are
actively involved in increasing this awareness in the medical world and also
provide information about vasa previa and support to pregnant women who are
diagnosed with the condition. It is our sole aim to make infant death due
to vasa previa an exception to the rule, rather than the rule at large.
Private donations and fundraising are very important for the success of our awareness campaigns and research projects.
The largest and most important fundraiser the IVPF sponsors is Sophie's Walk for
Vasa Previa. Sophie's Walk was created by Sophie's mother and friends who
walked 10k on her 1st birthday in 2002 and donated the funds they raised
to the IVPF. IVPF adopted Sophie's Walk as it's main fundraising event
the next year.
Every year Sophie's Walk is held in
cities all over the world.
While in some cities large organized walks take place, in many others families
and friends of vasa previa victims collect donations and walk privately for this
very important cause.

Private Fundraisers
While the IVPF cannot sponsor every fundraising event,
we welcome and encourage others to hold their own charitable event for vasa
previa. There is no finer cause than raising awareness of its
heartbreaking demise. In doing so you will be saving lives. Babies
don't need to die from vasa previa. The vast majority of these precious
victims can be saved with proper management of the condition. If you would
