It is 4:45 am 12-1-2009. My wife Kate is sleeping and I just fed our baby Pine who has graduated to the Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit from the Intensive care unit. We found out that we had a Vasa Previa at week 19. That was the scariest day of our lives, the information outside of Vasaprevia.com is very inconsistant and we were devastated. Thus we began mentally preparing for the loss of the pregnancy. After several weeks and meeting with our Perinatal specialist our concerns lessened, but always lay in the back of our heads. Kate's pregnancy was very normal physically speaking: no bleeding or pain. But she was put on bed rest right away. At 30 weeks we checked into Mary Birch hospital in San Diego where we were taken care of by an amazing staff caring people. It was decided that in order to avoid emergency C-section Pine would be delivered on 11-23-2009, and so he was...successfully. His breathing was labored and was put on CPAP and IV in the NICU. Everyday he makes vast improvement and will come home with us soon...I have never been happier in my life. Our thoughts and love go out to all miracle and angels and all of the people who work with passion to help more miracles happen every day. ~ Kate and Adam Wade |
