My first pregnancy was a vaginal delivery with no complications. With Alyssa Lee, my second pregnancy, I had no complications and I worked up to my delivery date. My vasa previa was detected at 18 weeks by a level 2 ultrasound. Alyssa Lee was delivered via a scheduled c-section at 36 weeks and weighed 5 lbs. 15 oz. She was born healthy and is doing well.

At the time of my c-section my doctor told me the vessel was partially covering my cervix. None of the published risk factors for vasa previa pertain to me. I thank god this condition was detected early as I now have a beautiful daughter.
